Hi everyone, After 8 fabulous years of using ECS for DOS, and several minor attempts at upgrading, I am finally ready to jump to ECS / Win. I have a couple questions. First, my configuration: Dell v333c with 192mb, 10gB drive OS: Windows 2000 Modem: The Zoom 14.4 from our group purchase a couple years ago Serial: 1 native, plus 1 Byterunner PCI 8 port on Com3 - Com 10 USB: 2 Interfaces: Ocelot with SECU-16 and SECU-16I I am simultaneously running a program called WinAPRS that broadcasts my house weather conditions and car locations on the 2 meter band. To see the internet feed of this feature check out http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi?KC5JIF (weather) or http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?kc5jif-1 (my car) . Here are the questions: I just bought an Ocelot from Worthington. I guess I should have checked, but doesn't this device include the X-10 interface port as standard equipment? There is a phone cable in there, but no X-10 interface. Is this an additional option ? I have the CM11a, will this work? If not, what do I need to get? The SECU16 and SECU16I include 1000 ohm resistors for "supervised" inputs. Can anyone shed light on what applied digital means by supervised? My implementation is that my window and door security loops are normally closed, and when the window or door opens the circuit opens. My motion detectors are normally open. When they detect motion they close the circuit. Can the Ocelet/ECS combo handle this like I did with the Alpha Board/ECS-DOS did ? What do I gain by adding the resistors ? Is anyone running ECS on Win2000 using the Zoom Modem ? Does the sound work ? Win2000 identified this as "Unknown Modem - Com 2" . I don't suppose Zoom has Win2000 drivers for this, do they ? From my intermittent review of the messages here, it seems that the emulation of the Bigmouth (a feature my family loves) is a problem for Windows based ECS. What is the best solution for ECS calling an extension and making an announcement using the paging feature of a Panasonic PBX ? Thanks guys. It will take me a while, but I look forward to getting back to a current ECS configuration ! Reddy Biggs
