Reddy, Welcome to Windows! You're going to love the features it provides and hate the loss of the BIGMOUTH. For me, the clearly superior speech package plus integration with ACE made it a no-brainer. I'm not currently "up" having just moved 2 months ago; major renovation in the new home and just about done. However, I have made a few purchases with which I hope to improve my HA setup. See my comments imbedded in your original message Here are the questions: I just bought an Ocelot from Worthington. I guess I should have checked, but doesn't this device include the X-10 interface port as standard equipment? There is a phone cable in there, but no X-10 interface. Is this an additional option ? I have the CM11a, will this work? If not, what do I need to get? >>> You need the TW-523 to get the ocelot to speak X-10. I too, bought an Ocelot and hope to have MUCH more reliable X-10 without intermittant CM11a "lockup" problem. I'm currently using Ocelot just for lighting (quick, simple, easy and didn't need to find ECS computer to do it). Once I get ECS back up, will erase the ocelot programming and just use it as I/O (X-10, IR) The SECU16 and SECU16I include 1000 ohm resistors for "supervised" inputs. Can anyone shed light on what applied digital means by supervised? My implementation is that my window and door security loops are normally closed, and when the window or door opens the circuit opens. My motion detectors are normally open. When they detect motion they close the circuit. >>> Go to www.futurestandard.com and look under FAQ's. They have sections with articles dealing with just the question your asking. I'm not familiar, since I use a separate security panel. Can the Ocelet/ECS combo handle this like I did with the Alpha Board/ECS-DOS did ? What do I gain by adding the resistors ? >>>again, see the FAQ. Is anyone running ECS on Win2000 using the Zoom Modem ? Does the sound work ? Win2000 identified this as "Unknown Modem - Com 2" . I don't suppose Zoom has Win2000 drivers for this, do they ? I use Win98 and the zoom modem is "adequate" but not exceptional. Also, since I added a DTMF decoder to "log" all outgoing call information, I can draw upon that to have rudamentary phone control (wrote small test event) but in practice, I never used it as 1) touchscreen and 4 button controllers were all my family needed and 2) 3 button sequence keyed on phone was driving phone company nuts... From my intermittent review of the messages here, it seems that the emulation of the Bigmouth (a feature my family loves) is a problem for Windows based ECS. What is the best solution for ECS calling an extension and making an announcement using the paging feature of a Panasonic PBX ? >>> I don't have a PBX so am unable to answer any of this. Thanks guys. It will take me a while, but I look forward to getting back to a current ECS configuration ! Reddy Biggs >>>>>> Hope some of this helps! Bill Walters
