Jerry,

No, you're NOT the only one to have a CM11a "lockup" on you.

First, I believe the DOC's have you take the batteries out of the CM11a with using it
with ECS, they're not needed (you're not storing anything in the CM11a), so remove the
batteries and don't put them in again.

When my CM11a locked up, I powered down ECS and unplugged the CM-11a from the wall.
Waited about 1 hour then reconnected (CM-11a, power up ECS). If ECS reported unable
to initialize CM11a or CM11a not responding, I'd use ECS to RESET the CM-11a (repeat
as necessary until OK) then used external console to send X-10 command - that usually
did it.

I have given up on the CM-11a as an acceptable X-10 interface with ECS. I've bought
an Ocelot for use with ECS and although I'm not back "up" since my move, I'm most happy
with the Ocelot (CPUXA to ECS).

OK...I can't be the only one who has this problem. I've tried 2 different CM11As,
and the same thing happens with both. Here's the problem:

Occasionally, when the power goes out, or when the CM11A is unplugged, or if the serial
connection is disconnected, the CM11A will stop responding. It just locks up. ECS
can't talk to it, nor can IBM's Home Director software. Rebooting the computer does
not help removing or replacing the batteries does not work. Eventually, usually after
many hours, the unit starts working again.

I find no mention of this in either the documentation that came with the CM11A, and
IBM's website acts as if they never made the Home Director.

If anyone has had this problem, and were able to actually "make" this interface start
working again, I'd sure appreciate knowing your method. I love the interface, except
when it does this. Light dimming is much more eye-pleasing with the CM11A, than any
other PLC interface I've used.

  Thanks
  Jerry
