InMyHumbleOpinion, I believe (humbly, again - don't want a religious war
here!) that HTML is here to stay. I fought it for a while myself, but (just
like Microsoft) we're going to have to get used to it. But I for one have
configured my mailer to only do html to certain addresses that I know can
handle it, and mailing lists don't apply here yet.

No vote either... but if we do split the list, I'll just subscribe to both
lists, and have to delete all the crossposts that are inevitable.

Yes, please, please put your stuff on top! (OK, or you can imbed your
comments... kinda depends on whether you're responding to the message as a
whole, or to each item individually.) :-)
