Subject: RE: ECS problem report
FYI:
I'm having the identical problem.
Java say's it can't connect to "A" (my client PC at 192.168.1.2):
com.ms.security.SecurityExceptionEx[UI.connect]: cannot connect to "A"
at com/ms/security/permissions/NetIOPermission.check
at com/ms/security/PolicyEngine.deepCheck
at com/ms/security/PolicyEngine.checkPermission
at com/ms/security/StandardSecurityManager.chk
at com/ms/security/StandardSecurityManager.chkex
at com/ms/security/StandardSecurityManager.checkConnect
at java/net/InetAddress.getHostName
I have disabled I.E. proxy and terminated my proxy pgm.
But note that I CAN connect to identical sockets via my C program.
There is something different about the JAVA connection.
I'm going to see if I can bypass the GetHostName call and connect directly to the IP.

Hi Mark -
It used to work - and 59767 is a valid IP port - ports go to 64000. I didn't want to run the "default" ecs port, that's all.
I'd actually like to set up a separate machine for the demo - and it can be on it's on port at my same public IP - and you can put anything on it you would like. What OS would you prefer, is Win98SE ok, or would you like something newer?
I'll change the web-server-port to a lower number, is that why the java thing isn't working, it did in 2.2.35,,
Thanks.
Take care,
Leland

- Leland,
- Why do you keep defining these Parameter Objects ? :-):
Name: Parameter:Web-Server-Port Class: Integer Description: custom web server port Base: Decimal Minimum: 0 Maximum: 1000000 Persistent: Yes : 59767
- And note that 59767 as more than 8 bits.
- Object removed in attached.
