Installing Updates
To download the latest revision:
- Backup your "\PROGRAM FILES\ECS" folder (in case a problem arises with the update).
If you have customized
APPMAP.TXT or any
.APP files,
you should back these up as a minimum.
- Download ECS_BETA.EXE into any desired folder.
- From your Win DeskTop, click START and RUN,
and enter "{dir}\ECS_BETA", where "{dir}" is the name of your folder
(or click BROWSE, find the file, and click OK).
- Restore any customized
APPMAP.TXT or
.APP files.
- From your Win DeskTop, click START and RUN,
and enter ""\PROGRAM FILES\ECS\REV.EXE"" in quotes
(or click BROWSE, find the file, and click OK).
This program will then update any files as needed.
- Exit/re-start your browser.
- Review the update history.
To trigger a customized update procedure when ECS exits or restarts
(whereby updated files are copied from \ECS\UPD):
- Copy UPD.BTX to UPD.BT.
- When commanded to exit or restart,
ECS will detect the existence of UPD.BT,
copy this file to UPD.BAT,
and execute this file just prior to exit.
UPD.BAT will then move \ECS\UPD\* to \ECS
and restart ECS (if applicable).
Note that we avoid the use of the "UPD.BAT" file name
until the last minute, so as to avoid the possibility of
UPD.BAT being executed by accident.
