OK, they try using find to see what has changed in the past 30 minutes:

find /etc -mmin -30 -print

should do it (note that using -30 is important. Else you'll only find
files that were changed *exactly* 30 minutes ago). If /etc doesn't work,
try /var (but you'll get some unrelated hits there).

Also, it could be in your home directory, maybe the setting is specific
to individual users.
