PCI and PCIE VGA coexistence ?

Hi all,
I was wondering if "anyone" (which usually means Ingo :-)) had a theory
regarding this problem:
I am attempting to run Knoppix with both the onboard VGA and a PCI-EXPRESS
VGA card.

When I setup the BIOS to use the onboard VGA as the primary, the PCIE card
does not "appear" on the PCI bus (in /proc/pci (or scanpci).
And when I setup the BIOS to use the PCIE VGA as the primary, the onboard
VGA does not appear
(though a 3rd PCI/VGA card *will* appear).

To state another way, a primary onboard VGA will make a secondary PCIE VGA
"disappear",
and a primary PCIE VGA will make the onboard VGA disappear (but not a 3rd
PCI VGA).

Any theories ?
Thanks !

Mark Gilmore
