when you restore to a previous point, XP restores ALL *.EXE and *.CFG 
(i.e. ECS CONFIGURATION) files to that date.
and it even does so on EXTERNAL disks.
of course, gatesware doesn't bother to inform you of such a "trivial" detail.

so prior to doing a System Restore, you should either zip these files 
or copy them to *another* PC.
then restore upon completion.
