Subject: From: Date: | Slow IE load times (narrowing it down) Mark Gilmore Wed, 10 May 2006 17:46:00 -0400 |
I created an *empty* applet (no code at all),
a page holding 20 of these applets,
and verified that IE7/IE6 takes some 15 seconds to load this page
(all the while pegging the CPU).
I then set JAVA console trace level to 5,
loaded this page via IE7 and FireFox,
and compared the resulting console logs.
The primary difference is that IE is logging these lines numerous
times (once per applet):
liveconnect: Invoking JS method: document
liveconnect: Invoking JS method: URL
So far, I have been unable to find out what "liveconnect" is,
or why IE is obsessed with referencing a JavaScript "document" and
"URL" method.
Sun's various JAVA sites/forums have been of no help in answering
either question.
Any theories would be greatly appreciated.
Mark Gilmore
