hi kevin, thanks for the info (btw, we found the same forum post). please refer to my subsequent email in which i eliminated any JAVA code as a cause of this problem (IE invokes these methods for *all* applets, regardless of what they contain). i posted this error on the MS/IE7 feedback site and another ECS user is passing it on to Sun (where he has contacts).
