I am not using a current version of ECS, so this may be functionality that
ECS already has.
There is a fine little program called YAC, Yet Another Caller ID, at
http://sunflowerhead.com/software/yac/
They include the source code. It allows you to read Caller ID from your
windows based computer's modem, and distribute it to all the other users on
your network, or even to your TiVo.
I split my phone line so that I section goes to a Vive CID box and the modem
in my computer. Now I get phone CID logged into ECS, announced by ECS in the
living room, and distributed to the computers.
Why would anyone want to do this? Teenage daughters. I feel like I am a
full time answering service now. I want THEM to answer THEIR OWN phone
calls, rather than have Dad answer them, hunt them down or take messages.
