Subject: From: Date: | If you're using Windows and FireFox is your default browser ... Mark Gilmore Thu, 09 Aug 2007 10:12:09 -0400 |
Problem:
If FireFox is the default browser, starting ECS occasionally
results in the Windows error message:
"Windows cannot find 'http://127.0.0.1/init.htm".
Cause:
When ECS starts, it tells Windows to display
"http://127.0.0.1/init.htm" (which uses the default browser to do so).
But if FireFox is not running **and had crashed or was
aborted previously** (via the Task Manager or a PC reboot),
then it displays a prompt asking if you wish to restore the
previous session.
And as FireFox is halted waiting for a response, it does not
respond to Windows request to display "init.htm".
So Windows then displays the misleading message that it
"cannot find 'http://127.0.0.1/init.htm".
Solution:
Respond to the FireFox prompt as desired.
Either:
Display "http://127.0.0.1/login"
Or
Abort ECS via the Task Manager and restart ECS
