Subject: From: Date: | WiiMote integration effort Mark Gilmore Sat, 01 Dec 2007 08:04:28 -0500 |
Hi everyone,
FYI:
I am currently evaluating the feasibility of using the "WiiMote" (Wii Remote Control)
as an ECS input device under Windows (Linux may come later).
Only time and experience will tell if this could be practical.
To access the remote, I am using the Kensington 33348 Bluetooth USB 2.0
Adapter with the WIDCOMM 4.0.1.2400 BlueTooth Software package.
My test program successfully monitors button and accelerometer (motion) activity and
allows the remote to be used as a mouse. But my ultimate goal is to make ECS recognize
and respond to hand gestures (e.g. one might wave the remote in a circle to turn on
the TV, etc).
I also need the remote (a BlueTooth device) to be *automatically* connected to the
PC when it is activated (currently, the connection must be initiated manually).
Unfortunately, my experience with BlueTooth programming and pattern recognition is
"limited" (at best :-)). So if you have such experience and would like to help,
please let me know and I will provide more details (plus the test program).
Regards,
