Mark -

You may also want to consider a Basic Stamp IC made by Parallax. They have
larger Stamps that have more than 16 I/O pins along with separate serial
interface. They program in Basic, a subset of the old Basic we all learned
years ago.

I've got some experience in using them - I built a monitor/alarm system at
work using one of them. They're not the cheapest, I'd have to check - I
think you could accomplish what you're looking for at around $100 or so.
Very stable, program is kept in EEPROM, fun to tinker with.

Hi Johannes,
can the IO12 act alone (i.e without the barionet) ?
what is it's retail price ?
btw, the IO12 data sheet notes 12 digital-inputs, but no inputs are
mentioned on your web page.
thanks,
