looking for advice on a light sensor

hi everyone,
as our EcoDimmer has 8 digital inputs that are normally unused,
i would like to support an optional light sensor that would connect to some (or all)
of these inputs
(so the EcoDimmer could intelligently control/dim the lights per the current light level).
so what i am looking for is a light sensor that is:
	powered by 5V
converts the light level to a digital value
outputs that value to 4 or 8 digital inputs

another possible (simpler) option would be an adjustable light threshold detector,
which would output to a single digital input when a specific brightness is reached.

any ideas ?
any specific terms i should google for ?

note: the EcoDimmer module has *no* analog inputs (only 16 digitals).

thanks !
