Ocelot IR signal K

What exactly does the frequency mean? The manual only says "Frequency
used when learning the signal". The ocelot manual kind of glosses over
it, only showing it in the picture, but saying nothing about it.

Does it mean the IR frequency in Hz of MHz or something like that?

If it means the IR frequency, what is the norm?
Can I monitor and work with multiple frequencies if not all my gear is
the same frequency?

thanks
dan
