May not be a great idea since Microsoft has just been found to be in
violation of a patent for this mechanism, and owe the patent holder, a
company named Eolas and the University of California in Berkeley, some
$2.50 for every single copy of Windows, so far more than half a billion
dollars and counting. So MS will have to do something, and possibly
remove support for ActiveX very quickly. By the way, MS may also have to
remove support for Java for the same reason (after all, the Java plugin
also is an ActiveX control).

Mozilla has a Java console under Tools | Web Development.

Can you post more information - at the very least, the message from the
JSException, preferably also the stack trace? Most likely, you can also
get the remaining information, line number etc. of the failing
Javascript.
Also, do note that the Javascript implementations may well differ (and
probably do).
