Hi Mark,
using "gatesware" for my home automation "joshua", sometimes I (i.e. my 
software :-) can "block" or hang the whole TCP/IP subsystem.
I can no longer surf internet using Netscape or Explorer; needless to 
say, my app also can't do anything with TCP/IP local or remote.
If I close this app, anything starts working again.
Someway it seems that you can still hang the whole OS... still in 
Win2000 server... :-(
