Subject: From: Date: | RE: [ecs] Knoppix startup hassles Bill Walters Thu, 30 Oct 2003 12:02:44 -0600 |
Mark,
In my TIVO unit, when I want to add programs to execute, I've had to put
"./" in front of the program name such as:
./var/index/tyindex
what happens if you change your startup line to:
cd /home/knoppix/ecs
echo x > 1.tmp
./ecs.bin & <---do you really need the ".bin" here?
Dunno if this has any bearing on your setup.
Your mileage may vary; I'm a complete linux novice with too little
experience to have any knowledge about such things at all..... ;}
Bill

Subject: [ecs] Knoppix startup hassles
I added these commands to /etc/profile, but I still get no console
window upon bootup and auto-login:
cd /home/knoppix/ecs (works)
echo x > 1.tmp (works)
konsole & (a test - trying to get *anything* to come
up) (nothing)
konsole -e="ecs.bin" & (nothing)
I know the command are being executed, as 1.tmp is being created.
If I enter the commands manually, they work.
Any ideas ?
To reiterate: All I want to do is to startup ECS in a console window
when Knoppix logs in the "knoppix" user. All my other login-init cmds
in /etc/profile work fine.
Thanks,
Mark Gilmore
