Subject: [ecs] Linux/Knoppix bootup procedure

Does anyone know of a source that describes exactly (step-by-step) what
commands and/or files Linux and/or Knoppix executes when booting up ?
The list of such files seems to be ever-expanding, and I desperately need to
get a handle on this (and I know that it *can't* be as complicated as it
appears :-)).
Thanks,

Mark Gilmore
