Yes - but the blue is bluer than the gray is gray - I had to look really
hard to see the gray (I am running on LCDs). 

This could be a graphics card or monitor cable issue. What controller
card are you using?

And as a quick next step, try changing the number of colors that your
display is set to in the Windows control panel. 

These images are at the lower end of the contrast scale. Although a full
color image may look fantastic, extremes could appear quite a way off.
Your eye is very accommodating to large variations in color.

One other thing to try: open the pale gray image on paint or somesuch,
and zoom way in to see if you can see the color variation within it -
looks a bit like a circuit board.

The MonitorDirect had no effect.
Does http://www.omnipotencesoftware.com/wp bkg.jpg look gray
and http://www.omnipotencesoftware.com/sky.jpg look blue to you ?
