Hi Mark, AFAIK when you set a 2000 or XP machine to share its internet
connection, then some things change into that machine:
its address is changed to 192.168.0.1
it becomes a tiny DHCP server.
Thus, other PCs have to be set to "Obtain an IP address from the
network": this way, the XP "server" will send them an IP address,
gateway info and DNS info too.
Someway, although the process usually works fine, is like a "black box".
I mean, sometimes it didn't work, and when I tried to go manually
(setting the gateway to 192.168.0.1 and the DNS to some well-known
italian DNSs) it still didn't work.
