RE: [ecs] MSVM problem

Mark,

I guess I'm not seeing any of the problems you're experiencing because I'm not using
ECS II. My comments on "working just as well" refer to java applications working in
ordinary IE pages thru the network.

I have noticed that sometimes java applications seem to load extremely slowly but I
attributed that to the slowness of the internet. Perhaps that isn't the only reason?!?

I have also recently loaded Mozilla browser and was forced to get the latest version
of Java for it to work inside Mozilla.... although I havent noticed any problems on
the internet with java applications, I did try logging into my house (ECS Legacy).
I can log-in and see initial stuff ok, but when I select a particular screen, all I
get is greyed out backgrounds... Java console reports "ecsio... bad magic number"..
 Whattaver the heck that is.

I checked with a W98 computer using IE and it loads/looks fine, so the problem is definately
with java on my laptop. (Java runtime 1.4.2-04, Java 1.4.2-02 ran just fine, thank
you very much!).

Again, no concern of yours, this is with ECSL, NOT your current product.

Arraugh! All in the efforts to reduce spam. Dang Mozilla and Dang Java!

Java.Com has a developers section on their site, perhaps they have some suggestions
that might provide tighter coding for java apps?

In any event, certainly the fact that java now comes from a separate source than the
OS will result in a product that isn't as tightly integrated, which would (could) reduce
speed/throughput overall.

Lastly, I'm a non-programmer, non-technozoid.  Your mileage may vary ;<}
