Subject: From: Date: | Ocelot analog 0 reads Dan Carrington Sat, 14 Aug 2004 12:08:54 -0700 |
Since I have not heard anything back about an actual solution to the
random analog 0 reads, I thought I would share my thoughts on a way
arround them.
Create a number item.
If the analog read is not 0, then set the number to the analog.
From then on, anything that should reference the analog read, reference
your number item instead.
My reasoning being, analogs would usually be use for something that is
not quick responging as they only read once a minute anyways. Light and
temp should work fine this way. As it gets dark, a light sensor will
get close to 0, and the number item will follow. I would not go all the
way to 0, but rarely will you need to actually sence a difference
between 0 and 1. Temperature will never read a 0 unless you are using a
voltage adjuster that really changes the 5v offset. Thus if it reads a
0, it is a bogus reading.
Your number item will be the reading, unless it is bogus, then it will
read the previous minute's reading for another minute. Hardly a problem.
